SELF Principle is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, EIN 82-2660081. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what we do not do with it. The short version: we collect as little as possible, we never sell or rent your information, and we do not run ads.
What we collect
Your email address when you subscribe to the newsletter or request a free guide. Your name, email, and message when you use the contact form. Donation information when you give, which is processed by our payment provider. Scholarship application information when a parent or guardian submits an application. Standard website analytics, such as pages visited and general location, collected in aggregate.
Why we collect it
To send you the newsletter and the guides you asked for. To reply to your message. To process and receipt your donation. To review scholarship applications. To understand which pages are useful so we can improve them.
What we never do
We never share your email address with sponsors or any third party. Scholarship sponsors support our student awards only and never receive your information.
Email and the newsletter
Our newsletter runs on Kit, which stores your email address and basic engagement information such as whether an email was opened. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you from the list. If you ask us to delete your record entirely, we will.
Donations
Donations are processed by our payment provider. We receive the information needed to acknowledge and receipt your gift. We do not store your full card number.
Children's information
Our website is written for adults and we do not knowingly collect information from children. The one exception is the Sports Scholarship, where a parent or guardian submits the application on a student's behalf, including the student's first name, grade, school, and supporting documents. That information is used only to review the application, is seen only by the review committee, and is not published. If a recipient is announced, only a first name and last initial are used, and only with written parental consent.
Cookies and analytics
This site uses cookies for basic functionality and aggregate analytics. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; some parts of the site may not work as well if you do.
Third parties we use
Wix hosts the site. Kit runs the newsletter. YouTube and Spotify host our videos and podcast and set their own cookies when their players load. Each has its own privacy policy.
Your choices
You can unsubscribe from any email at any time. You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top.
